Tournaments

We run prize winning tournaments at every event, which do vary from year to year as new games come out.

There are of course some firm favourites which nearly always make a return at every event. Counter-Strike Source, Team Fortress 2, Call Of Duty 4 and Starcraft2 are among the regulars at the event, but make sure you keep an eye on our tournaments page to see what we have planned for each event!

You can even setup your own tournament if you want! Just ask one of our tournament admins and they will create you a full tournament setup in our event tournament system :)

Also, if you find that people are playing a game that you don't have, don't worry! We have our own local Steam content server, which allows you to get your gaming purchases super quick!

To enter a tournament simply head over the Tournament Pages, and follow the instructions to sign up to the tournament you wish to compete in!

When signing up for a tournament on the Tournament Page, simply type your team name into the team box, rather than selecting a team from the Drop Down box (see image below)

Once you have done this, all other team members signing up will be able to select the team from the drop down, so make sure you are the first member to do it!

If you have any problems with any aspect of the Tournament Page, you can ask your tournament admin for help! Click on the Admins tab on the Tournaments Page to find out where the admins are sat for your tournament. You can also contact an admin through the web IRC window on the homepage of the tournament you are playing in.

If you and your opponents enter the same score, the system accept the result and schedule your next match. If you and your opponent enter differing results however, the Tournament Admins will try to resolve any differences through demo's and screen-shots.

We recommend that you always take a screen-shot of the final score of your match, to aid any potential problems with scoring.

Yes, if we have it! We sometimes have a very limited stock of the latest & most popular games at Reception, and our local Steam Server has an up-to-date image of most games on Steam which you can purchase and download at the event. There is also a GAME nearby in the centre of Newbury.

To be safe though, make sure you buy the games you want to play before you arrive!

Yes, but it depends on which tournaments you want to enter. Due to the limited time we have during the event, some tournaments will clash with each other, meaning you cannot enter both.

Other tournaments will overlap slightly, meaning if you're knocked out of one then you can play in another.

Each event we produce what we call the Tournament Matrix, which shows you which tournaments you can enter at the same time.

Double Elimination is a format which increases the amount of games each team can potentially take part in, by giving every team an "extra life". When you lose a game in a double elimination tournament, you drop down onto the lower bracket. If you lose a game in the lower bracket, then you are out of the tournament. Click the image below for a visual representation of this format.
