Counter Strike Source Final Standings

May 7th, 2012

After a long weekend, I am just glad we have a conclusion to our very prestigious Counter Strike Source Tournament. We have finally got to the end of the 52 team CS:S Tournament, for £5,000 at stake, we got to VeryGames & Tt.eDragons, no surprises as the top two seeds who managed to get to the Grand Final.

The best match of the tournament though has to go to CodeRed Gaming against Fragmasters which went to an amazing 4 overtimes, the players so fatigued after that match had to face the prying eyes of Cadred’s news reporters Richard Lewis, who had questions to ask for the winners of that game. The game was full of drama, as CodeRed Gaming had the advantage at 15 – 13 and only needing 1 of the 2 rounds remaining ended up losing both rounds, and that really set the game alive, as they went from overtime to overtime, before a winner was found in Fragmasters TOXIC. FM! Toxic then had to face against Tt.eDragons for their place in the final. Of course Tt.eDragons, had really had a good break, and were rested, whereas their opponents FM! Toxic were absolutely shattered. The British team carrying the weight of the British nation, buckled under immense pressure, and got shot down very quickly however Fragmasters managed to fight themselves back, before Tt.eDragons got the final round to clinch the victory and have a re-match against their French counterparts.

All in all it was a very straightforward final, with VeryGames racing to a 9 – 0 lead before Tt.eDragons managed to grab a round, Tt.eDragons, just never looked cohesive as a team and were very lacklustre in comparison to their flamboyant rivals. Tt.eDragons will be very disappointed with the way they went out at the final, however 2nd place at an iSeries is still something to rave about for years to come. What could of been will be very much on their minds though, and the same could be said for Fragmasters.

Meanwhile Instincts reclaimed their crown as defending champions of the Intermediate Tournament with a convincing victory over close rivals of Rasta.IP 16 – 11 on de_tuscan, this was shoutcasted by one of the admins Gumpster, and before it was 12 – 3 in the first half, Rasta, managed to look out of ideas before they started racking up the rounds. With that said they finally capitualted on the 12th round of the Final, and ended up losing to the team who always seem to win Intermediate. In the Lower Tournament Rasta.Danceswith (Blanks) managed to overcome Infused.Female in two maps on de_season 16 – 7 and then on de_train 16 – 8, a lot of banter was thrown between the teams, as they seem to enjoy the tournament.

Great tournament throughout and we look forward to seeing you at insomnia46 for another series of twists and turns, and amazing drama at Telford International Centre.

Counter Strike Source Day 1 Round Up

May 5th, 2012

So here we are bright and early for Day 2 of the event, and whilst we had 4 teams out of action from Day 1 as they managed to qualify straight into the Prize Winning Elimination bracket, we still had a lot of group games that were showing off end to end action.

The UK Counter Strike Source Scene, fresh off the back of a famous win from Copenhagen Games, managed to show off why the scene is still one of the best and most active scenes in the world. With a grand total of 52 teams signed up, 49 of them being British, and a strong 3 French teams in attendance, we do not know what exactly this tournament would throw up. The groups got off to a slow start with the usual delays that have crept in, but as ever teams were patient and understanding that a LAN wouldn’t be right without a delay or two. With many teams in action, the games started slowly and Round 1 of the group games through up two seeded teams against each other in Group A with TeamCRG who are current 4th seed and Team LANARCHY who are the 11th seed, face each other in the first game. It was sure to be close, and managed to be exactly the opposite as the outcome was 16 – 5 to CRG.

The female team of Infused really didn’t have a great start where they got absolutely trounced 28 – 2 in their first game against Skybox.CRG in Group E. Meanwhile Rasta.Xd had a dazziling start up against crazyAimers who are both seeded teams in Group B, as Rasta.Xd ran out eventual winners of 23 – 7.

The big battles of where seeds could be facing the exit doors are in Groups E & F, tHemix who are 15th seed are currently 2 points off the place above them, the slip up was against Skybox.CRG where they only managed to take a point. In Group F, VYE.JMC$ who are 16th seed are currently residing in 4th place, and are in real danger of dropping to the Intermediate Bracket, as they sit 5 points adrift of the qualification place. These teams will certainly be feeling tense in their last 2 games of the day, and it will certainly prove “squeeky bum time” for these guys and gals. Who can overcome this difficult period and manage to qualify for the Prize Winning bracket?

To Keep watching Counter Strike Source, do not forget you can see all the SourceTV IPs on Cadred here. The Group Games recommence at 10am BST, with Double Elim for Prize Winning, Intermediate and Lower brackets kicking off at 2pm BST today.
