IPL comes to Insomania44!

We here at Multiplay are very proud to present the IGN Pro League 4 UK Qualifiers, at our November LAN event, insomnia44! Featuring Starcraft 2, the IPL tournament will be a combination of players qualifying from the Insomnia Multiplay Starcraft 2 Tournament and invited pro players.

IGN launched the IPL earlier this year, to promote the fast-growing e-sports community leveraging its unrivalled online reach and the passion of its users to provide a platform for introducing the new generation of e-sports stars to millions of gaming fans.

The first-ever IPL regional tournament, for Blizzard Entertainment’s real time strategy game Starcraft II, will be held at insomnia44, taking place from November 18th to 21st at the Telford International Centre, UK.

David Ting, General Manager of eSports and Vice President of Research & Development at IGN, said:

We’re incredibly excited to be partnering with the experienced team at Multiplay, as we launch our first ever IPL 4 regional, in co-operation with IGN UK team. Multiplay has championed LAN gaming for over a decade, and together we can help grow e-sports internationally, fostering a new generation of e-sports stars through the IPL regional’s. We’ll be building up to the IPL4 major next March in the US with a series of qualifiers across Europe and beyond.

Craig Fletcher, Managing Director, Multiplay added:

IPL is rapidly taking the e-sports world by storm, so we’re delighted to be partnering with them to host their first regional tournament at our insomnia44 event. Being able to build on the work we’ve done in eSports over the past decade, and help contribute to a fantastic tournament & prize pot with IGN is something that we’re really proud to be part of.

More information on the IPL @ insomnia44 will be posted as we get closer to the event, so keep an eye out!

Congratulations to Dignitas who won the Halo Reach Tournament, sponsored by Multiplay.

The maps MLG CTF5 and MLG Team Slayer were played and both teams seemed very equal throughout the maps, more or less neck and neck until the end. Dignitas managed to pull off a win in the final two rounds to take home £1,500 and Infused who take away £625.

Minecraft Competition Results!

August 29th, 2011 No comments

There were some absolutely epic entries into this event’s competition, Team Jeffels offering included a full pirate ship and treasure trove ( an ‘x’ to mark it, obviously).

Clan Spam came second with their Museum of Gaming, which was incredibly impressive. They managed to build everything from Space Invaders and Mario, to EVE at the very top. With cart rides and a walking tour, Clan Spam definitely deserved the £200 they won.

Team THN are this event’s winners, after building i42′s winning Crystal Maze entry, they’ve done it again with a Minecraft version of Super Mario 64, complete with castle and a defeat able Bowser! Each member of THN won a golden ticket each and £500 between them.

There were many amazing builds that couldnt be shown on stage, and so they will be on an online server shortly.

You can download the world file to put on your own server here!

Alternatively you can connect to our online server that also has the world running on it at: 85.236.101.238:29165

Lastly, well done to all those who entered!
